Geo II Oak Press Cupboard of superb quality, with fielded panel doors crossbanded in mahogany with a chequer line, the drawers featherbanded and with fruitwood cockbeading, the cornice, waist & base moulding superbly carved, probably en suite with interior woodwork at houses such as Mawley Hall & Davenport Hall. This Press also has a Shropshire provenance, perhaps indicating a local centre of carving excellence in the 2nd quarter of the 18th Century. Originally shelved, now with hanging rail. Original handles, later escutcheons (on drawers) and feet. Circa 1740
