This is a finely executed and very detailed still life oil on canvas by the artist G. MAJA, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a wicker basket full of white and black grapes and some vine leaves, standing on a bench, in front of a brick wall. The painting is almost photographic in its quality and has been exceedingly finely painted.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to discover anything about the artist, despite an extensive search, which probably means that he or she did not exhibit their work. If anyone has any information on this artist, we should be most grateful if they could contact us.

There is a possibility that the painting may be a European, possibly Spanish origin, due to the surname of the artist and the fact that the canvas has been stretched onto stretcher bars with curved edges, something that we have not seen in this country. However, it is an excellent painting.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3" gilt frame and slip and is ready to hang.
