We are offering for sale this evocative impressionist French School oil on canvas by an unknown artist. The painting depicts a sunset scene, with a small crowd of people standing around in a tree lined area, leading to a wide set of steps in the foreground. There is a large stone pillar to the left of the steps, with a stepped buttress. Judging by the uniform worn by the male figure on the right at the top of the steps, who appears to be wearing the uniform of a French grenadier of the late 19th Century, this is definitely a scene in France, possibly in Paris.

The painting is framed in a 3 1/4" gilt frame and slip and is ready to hang.
