French Country Card Table In Beautifully Figured Ash
This is a delightful French country side table with a top which swings around on its base and opens up to become a card table. Dating from the first half of 19th Century the French provincial cabinet maker selected the most attractive veneers of figured ash for this table, even the four sides of each leg are veneered the same way.
The book-matched veneers on the table top are framed by cross-banding. When opened up there is a circular baize playing surface with an ash-veneered surround which again displays book matched veneers.
The square section legs taper gradually to the ground.
Dimensions: When closed - Width 81cm x Depth 40cm x height 71cm ( 31 3/4" x 16" x 28")
When opened 81 x 81 cm (31 3/4" square)
Condition: There have been some minor repairs to the veneers on the base of the legs. There is old woodworm in the pine carcass which has been treated as a precautionary measure. The baize though not original is a little rough in one area.
Delivery: This table can be delivered to most places on mainland England and Wales for £50 by our trusted delivery person.
