Framed Jacques Barraband Bird of Paradise Print
Artist - Jacques Barraband (1768-1809), A French zoological and botanical illustrator renowned for his bird illustrations
Title - Le Sifilet No.7
Details - Antique engraving. We are unsure of the age of the engraving, but would estimate it to be late nineteenth century. It is a reproduction of the Baraband engraving from Jacques Louis Peree's Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux de Paradis. There is a watermark in one corner (see photographs). The print has been professionally mounted and framed within the last forty years.
Condition - Overall in good bright condition with good colours. The paper is browned and discoloured and has some light creasing. The print has moved a little (dropped) in the frame.The mount is also slightly discoloured. The frame has some scuffing and wear as might be expected.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Image (within impressions) - 35.5cm by 53.5cm
Paper - 45cm by 63.5cm'
