A particularly good Victorian burr walnut writing slope in excellent original condition. The walnut exterior with solid ebony rounded edging and superb engraved mother of pearl cartouches to the front and top. The box opens to a coromandel wood lined interior which retains the original gold tooled blue velvet writing surface. Both flaps lift to reveal storage areas and the top houses the original glass and silver plated ink bottles, pen tray, 2 lidded compartments and silvered partitions for stationary. The box has good quality brass fittings throughout including the V.R. stamped lock with keys. Size :- Height... 5.5''/ 14cm. Width...15''/ 38cm. Depth....9.75''/ 25cm. Open Depth...19.75''/ 50cm.
