Fine Quality Painted Opalescent Bristol Glass Vase
A very fine example of a late 19th Century opalescent glass vase and cover.
The taupe coloured body has been beautifully overpainted in enamels with a design depicting a small bird amid flowering, rambling Dog-rose.
The high quality and exquisite detail throughout is terrific, making this piece attributable to Bristol.
This is a very elegant vase, of classical form, with gilt and beaded detailing to the foot, an elongated body and tightly waisted upper collar or rim.
Please note, the cover has a repair. Normally I would not consider offering items of glass which have been damaged, however, this piece is so pretty and displays so well that I am happy to offer it for sale, despite the flaws.
Do call or email for a full condition report and extra photographs.

Condition The main body of the vase is in very good condition, with only slight rubbing to the white beaded design to the foot. The lid/cover has two faults 1) there is a sliver away (chip) to the top of the pointed finial. 2) The shaft of the cover (which locates into the body of the vase) has been broken away from the lid and has been reglued. It is possible to display the piece with neither of these fault being visible. Please ask for further images to illustrate, if necessary.
