A fine and large oil on canvas landscape painting by J. Smith. The painting shows a moorland scene with travellers camped on the roadside and a small holding in the distance. The quality of the painting is superb and the work is signed to the lower right 'J.Smith' however due to the common nature of this name I have been unable to adequately identify the artist. The painting is in excellent condition having been professionally cleaned. The gilt frame is the original and in good condition with some later over gilding. The whole is an impressive and decorative artwork which is ready to hang. C.1900.
