An Edwardian silver plated Neoclassical style soup tureen, having a pull-off lid with an urn-shaped finial and cut-out slot for a ladle and two reeded scroll side-handles, and all sitting on a pedestal foot. The interior is washed in gold.

My silversmith found me the perfect large antique ladle to finish the tureen off. The underside is marked by the Sheffield silversmith, Joseph Rodgers a famous firm of cutlers and silversmiths founded in Sheffield in 1682. It was converted under the style of Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ltd in 1871. The factory was at 6 Norfolk Street, Sheffield and a showroom at 60 Holborn Viaduct, London.

Dating to around 1900 / 1910, Edwardian in era, it remains in excellent condition. 14 1/2" handle to handle x 8" x 9 1/2" tall to top of lid finial.
