A really charming oil on canvas depicting a hen which has hatched her chicks nesting in an old boot. The painting is quite naive and has a lot of appeal because of it, the detail is lovely with the chicks all over the place and I particularly like the watering can. The painting is signed: S J B Keary and dated 1901, the artist is not recorded and therefore will be a talented amateur or commercial artist perhaps. The painting is mounted in a fine Victorian gilt frame and the whole, painting and frame are in good condition.
