A fine and large painting on linen of an armorial crest. The painting is beautifully done and is bright and fresh, with fantastic detail on the shield and flowing scrollwork. The painting is in excellent condition as is the linen, it was most likely cut from a banner or similar and laid down as an artwork. The frame is C.1870 and obviously used later to frame the work. The frame is in very good untouched country house condition with original gilding and wonderful detail in the crown and cushion cresting. The whole is a wonderfully decorative piece with a great country house look. Artwork c.1800.
