Edwardian Silver Plated Cruet Set, Mappin & Webb

This is a good quality Edwardian Silver Plated 3 Piece Cruet Set by Mappin & Webb. Each piece has a scalloped rim and stands on four feet, whilst the open salt and the mustard pot have their original blue glass liners.
The cruet set was made in Sheffield and most probably sold through Mappin & Webb\'s famous London store. It is part of the Mappin Plate range, which was Mappin & Webb\'s middle range of silver plated ware. Mappin & Webb used date letters on their silver plate and whilst a definitive guide to these has never been published, we can be confident that they are from the early years of Edward VII\'s reign, c.1902.
Condition of the open salt and the mustard pot is very good with no significant plate loss and just a few spots on the inside, under the blue glass liners, from salt corrosion. The blue glass liners have no chips or cracks. The pepper shaker has a couple of small dings on the lower part of the body but no plate loss and the lid is tight fitting meaning you can sprinkle your pepper with confidence.
The open salt and the mustard pot are each 4.6cm / 1.8\" across with the salt standing 3cm / 1.2\" high and the mustard pot standing 4.8cm / 1.9\" high to the top of the finial. The pepper shaker is 7.5cm / 3\" tall and 4.3cm / 1.75\" across the base. The set weighs 143g / 5oz inclusive of the blue glass liners.
The bases of all 3 pieces are marked \"Mappin & Webb. London & Sheffield. Mappin Plate\" and have the date letter \"C\" in a shield for c.1902.
