Edwardian Oak Snooker & Dining Table by Riley.
A fine exampe here of the Riley convertible in pale oak with stout barley twist legs and five removable solid oak table leaves to make a good eight seater dining table. In good condition, with traditional baize cloth over a slate bed, good cushions though it could do with a few new pockets. The dining surface is in excellent condition. Clearly stamped on the base with the makers name and various serial numbers. Sold together with sets of balls for both snooker and pool.
Fabulous quality Edwardian oak ‘snooker diner’ by Riley of Accrington, still the best known name in Snooker antique tables. Begun in the 1890′s as a Manchester sports shop, Riley began producing billiard and snooker antique tables in the very early years of the 20th.c and by 1920 were established as the leaders in a rapidly expanding market. One of the keys to the company’s success was their convertible tables which used their own patent mechanism to allow the top to lift easily from a dining table height to a correct playing height. The Riley mechanism also has the additional advantage of allowing precise adjustments to be made to each corner ensuring a level playing surface.
