Edwardian Drawing Room Armchair, c.1910
This is an antique, Edwardian drawing room armchair dating to c.1910.
In fine condition throughout, this attractive example is crafted in mahogany with good colour and graining. Traditionally stuffed, the golden upholstery is finished with a matching brocade trim and is complete with a show back for centre room placement.
Raised on cabriole legs to the front and square section legs to the rear, the chair rides upon the original brass castors. The serpentine front to the seat is mirrored in the humped crest of the seat back bringing balance to this well proportioned piece.
The pierced, lower back panel is inlaid with boxwood and holly depicting a stylised, floral urn. Similar inlay and stringing repeated, subtly, in the arms and front legs.
The side panels feature scrolled ears, sweeping, sinuous curves and typical rounded hand rests.
A fine chair in exceptional order, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
Dimensions:
Max Width: 59cm (23.25'')
Max Depth: 66cm (26'')
Max Height: 91.5cm (36'')
