Ebonised Chinoiserie Armchair Oriental Style antique vintage armchair %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This lovely armchair dates from the first half of the twentieth century. It is both the art deco and oriental style, and has an ebonised finish with gilt chinoiserie decoration. The chair has a shaped back, the front of which retains what looks to be its original gold and black silk upholstery. It has shaped arm supports and a bergere-work seat with a later removable cushion. The chair is supported on square legs at the front with tramline decoration to the fronts and gilt-painted shoulders, and slightly swept legs at the back. The cushion upholstery and the upholstery to the back of the back-rest has been recently done.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the finish and to the gilt decoration as might be expected. The chair is solid with only minimal movement in the joints. The upholstery to the front of the back-rest has some wear, fading and grubbiness and some minor fraying.
