Early 20th C Silver Plated Serving Dish, c.1900-30

This is a good quality early 20th Century Silver Plated Serving Dish. The dish is in the Muffin Dish style, named after it's shape. It has a round bowl base with an inner tray and a domed lid with a round handle. Either hot water or ice can be put into the bowl to keep whatever you are serving on the inner tray hot or cold as required. It can also be used without the inner tray if you want a deeper serving dish.
The serving dish is made in Birmingham by Thomas Wilkinson & Sons and dates to the period between around 1900 and 1930. Thomas Wilkinson founded the company in 1832 and by 1840 had a royal warrant from the young Queen Victoria. Thomas was followed by his sons and then grandsons in the business before it was sold in 1932 to A.L. Davenport Ltd.
Condition is good with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after this passage of time. There is no significant plate loss. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The serving dish is of a good, useful size measuring 17.5cm / 6.9ins in diameter and standing 8.8cm / 3.5ins high. It weighs 657g / 23.2oz.
The underside of the base is stamped with T.W & S for Thomas Wilkinson & Sons and has their Pelican trade mark.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
