Early 20th C. Silver Plate Individual Coffee Pot
Here we have a charming early 20th century Silver Plated small Coffee Pot. The coffee pot is of cylindrical form, with a long spout, a turned finial and a cane wrapped handle so that it is comfortable to hold when the contents are hot. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind, so this would make a perfect gift for any coffee lover.
The coffee pot is made in Sheffield by George Waterhouse & Co and dates to the period c.1900-1930. George Waterhouse founded his business somewhere around 1870 and continued into the 1930s. The firm seems to have specialised in all things to do with tea and coffee.
Condition is very good, with no dings, dents or plate loss. The cane wrapping to the handle is also in very good condition, with no splits or loose ends. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
This coffee pot is the perfect size for espresso for two or a longer coffee for one. It may have been intended for a restaurant or coffee shop originally, been part of a larger household service or always been a bachelor coffee pot for one. It stands 11.5cm / 4.5ins high, is 13.5cm / 5.3ins from spout to handle and 5.3cm / 2.1ins in diameter across the body. It weighs in at 215.4g / 7.6oz.
The bottom is simply marked W & Co for George Waterhouse & Co and EP for silver plate.
