Deep Seated Armchair by Cornelius V Smith
A large and impressive deep seated armchair similar to howard armchairs of the same period but by Cornelius V Smith with one of the rear legs having the stamp CVS, he was a manufacturer based at Vincent Works, 64 Osnaburgh Street, London N.W. He was especially well known for his chairs which are comparable in stature, quality and comfort to other top makers of the period, notably Howard and Sons. This armchair has been taken back to the original fabric to the back and sides. The frame is in good strong condition and the springs and padding are good so can be recovered if desired rather than fully reupholstered or could well be used as it is. The chair sits on walnut feet with four brass castors. Measures 114cm deep by 90cm wide and 85cm tall. The seat section itself is 71cm deep by 50cm wide and 43cm high.
