Coronation Souvenir - Enamelled Heart
A beautifully hand painted enamelled copper heart, by Edouard Henry Dreyfous, with the sides being of open lattice design. The inside is white enamel with a hand painted floral garland around the interior floor wall, King Edward VII's and Queen Alexandra's cyphers, a crown, laurel boughs, and 26 June 1902 Coronation Souvenir, with delicate wave impressions around the interior latticework, all embellished in gold. The exterior sides are pink enamel. It does have slight enamel loss to the top right-hand side of the heart but otherwise is in good condition. Remember this precious piece is 122 years old. The exterior bottom is white enamel signed in gold, E. Dreyfous to Their Majesties.
Edouard Henry Dreyfous was a retailer of antique furniture and objets d'art from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries. Although he was born in France, he lived in London with businesses in Paris and New York. His main clientele were some of the richest, most affluent and influential people from around the world, including royalty. He held a Royal Warrant since Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary of England became frequent customers.
Did you know the 1902 royal coronation was originally set for June 26, but had to be delayed because of King Edward's surgery for appendicitis? Yes! And the coronation actually took place on August 9! The delay occurred after merchants had already created and released souvenirs with the wrong date on them! This is one of those items.

Whilst most deliveries go smoothly, nonetheless delays sometimes happen which are outwith our control. When using shipping agents, we will always keep you well informed and a customer accepts these conditions once a purchase has been made.
