Coromandel Card Table by Gregory & Co
A superb 19th Century coromandel fold over card table by the London maker, Gregory & Co. This table is a wonderful example of their craftsmanship having an ebonised frieze with gilded decoration, the gilded detailing is repeated on the beautifully turned legs which terminate in the original brass castors. With the back legs extended (a simple pull out action)the stunning coromandel top lifts up to reveal the original embossed baize playing surface. There is space under the top to store cards and other gaming materials. The table showcases the skill and artistry of the Aesthetic Movement during the latter part of the 19th Century. This piece is in very good condition, it stands firmly and solidly. The inside drawer has two minor cracks, which aren't detrimental and are not easily seen as they are inside the table. The original baize surface is faded, but in very good order - this only adds to the character and history of the table.
The table bears the makers stamp and the design number 384. This is an outstanding antique table that would add style to any home.
