Fine collection of 5 mortars with 4 pestles, ranging from the late 16th century to the 18th century. They are a mix of bronze and brass examples and were purchased from a lifelong collector of kitchenalia. The earliest example is Spanish, bronze and dating to the late 16th century . It is decorated with 4 raised grotesque masks divided by buttresses. They are all a good weight (combined weight over 9kg) and with great colour/patina. All are in good condition in line with age and use, the example in picture 5 has a hairline crack but is sound.
