Circa 1770, a George III mahogany desk chair in the Chippendale style. The chair has an upholstered back and seat in a silk damask. The frame of the chair is in mahogany and the 2 back legs are square with chamfered corners on the side. These legs are slightly outswept. The front legs are also square and have chamfered corners, with wonderful style carved blind fretwork similar to Chippendale chairs of the same period. The cross stretchers of the chair have open fretwork with geometric and floral patterns, again reminiscent of Chippendale chairs of the period. The chair has been reduced slightly in height but is nonetheless a stylish chair.
Size 90cm high x 59cm wide x 62cm deep.
