C. L. Ry formed in 1860s.The railway did not become part of the Big Four during the implementation of the 1923 grouping, surviving independently with its own management until the railways were nationalised at the beginning of 1948.
Items from this railway do not come up very often so a good find. Difficult to be exact about the age but I estimate it is late 19th/early 20th century.
Front and back recently repainted although the white on the front is a little yellowed in places. The rim around the edge has been attacked by rust in places mainly to the right as you look at it so the rim is not as pronounced there as it was.
Approximate dimensions: 44.5cm x 25.7cm, weight 5.2kg.
