Charles W. Oswald Large Oil/canvas Highland burn
We are offering for sale a lovely large oil on canvas by the artist CHARLES W. OSWALD, who has signed the painting C.W. Oswald in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a Highland landscape, with a rapid flowing burn gushing over rocks, with a track to the left bank. The mountains in the background appear to be snow capped, although this may just be sunlight illuminating them.

He specialised in highland landscapes, rural scenes and painting featuring cattle and and working horses painted in oils. He lived at 258 Whitefield Road in Liverpool and did exhibit at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool in 1892. He is listed in The Dictionary of British Artists, Painters in the Northern Counties of England and Wales by Dennis Child and A Dictionary of Neglected Artists by Jeremy Wood.
Auction results and examples of work by this artist may be found at artprice.com (127 listings), findartinfo.com (70), artnet.com (48) and askart.com (13).
