Charles Leslie 1839-1886 Oil Loch Katrine 1866
We are pleased to offer for auction this superb oil on canvas by the artist CHARLES LESLIE, who has signed the painting Chas Leslie in the lower right hand corner, dated it 66 for 1866 and inscribed it verso on the stretcher 'Evening Loch Katrine'. The setting sun is illuminating the slopes of the mountains, which have been executed in excellent detail. There are two figures, a man and a woman, sitting below the large rock by the banks of the loch and the white sails of a couple of sailing boats are visible in the distance.
Loch Katrine is a freshwater lake in the heart of The Trossachs National Park in Scotland. It is a favourite subject of artists due to its beautiful scenery.
