Large late 19th.c. chalk bust of a young French military officer in uniform. Beautifully modelled with a confident clear-eyed gaze and a fine set of moustaches. The base carries a family crest to the front and is signed on the side Baslet (or Bastel perhaps) together with the date 1883. With repairs to the neck and minor wear, otherwise excellent condition.
