Castallack Hedge Afternoon by Michael Strang
Castallack Hedge Afternoon is a heavily impastoed work from this eminent English artist. Strang works passionately to represent his environment often painting en plein air to capture the image he wishes to portray. This representation of a hedgerow bathed in afternoon light is realist in execution but classical in technique and visually stunning.
Michael Strang is a internationally collected artist and his work is represented in many national, public and private collections.
Condition pristine, heavy impasto
Image 15.5" x 11" Framed 19" x 16"
Artist Info
Michael is an artist best described as new romantic and whose works sell both nationally and internationally.
He trained at Wimbledon and Camberwell Schools of Art from 1968 to 1973, among others studying under David Poole, President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. Since then his large body of eye-catching, thought-provoking oils – which include natural and man-made landscapes, seascapes, floral arrangements, flowering fields, hedgerows, still-life and portraits – have become increasingly sought-out by collectors.
The National Museum of Wales, The Ashmolean, Oxford, Falmouth Art Gallery, the Royal Cornwall Museum, and Cornwall Council are some of the institutions holding his work. His reputation was much enhanced with The Tate St Ives ‘Porthmeor Beach A Century of Images’ exhibition in 1995, in which more than fifty of his paintings were shown and brought him much kudos and new collectors of his beautiful paintings.
