This auction is for a delightful oil on canvas by the French artist BERNARD DUFOUR, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a Spanish scene, with a tiled archway over some stone steps. There are tall houses with wrought iron balconies and a profusion of flower post. There is a church belfry in the centre background with a antique clock on the side of it.

BERNARD DUFOUR, is a French artist, born on the 21st September 1922 in Paris. He started exhibiting abstracts in France in 1948, but after 1960 turned to figurative work and self portraits, and some nude studies. He opened a studio in 1961 in Foissac, where he also lived.

He also is a photographer, ceramacist and print maker, as well as having written four books of artistic notes and memoirs. He represented France at the Venice Biennale in 1964. He now lives and still works in Villeneuve.

He has exhibited in France, Canada, USA, and Germany and his work is represented in some French museums.
