Arthur Friedensen (1872-1955) Staithes Group 'Study'
Signed and inscribed on the reverse. "Study, Arthur Friedenson, Redcliffe, Wareham 1920. It was purchased from the artist’s
studio after his death. It is a vibrant study of rocks and heathland, probably near Wareham.
Friedenson painted landscape and coastal scenes in oils, and was a Member of the Staithes Group. In 1890 he decided to study on
the Continent, and on his return he started painting at Staithes
and Runswick Bay. Friedenson moved south in 1909, living at
Andover before moving to Wareham and eventually to Corfe
Castle on 1929. Friedenson exhibited extensively at the Royal
Academy and other major venues.
