Art Deco Silver Plate Teapot, I.S. Greenberg, 1924
Here we have a stylish Art Deco Silver Plated Teapot from the 1920s. The teapot is octagonal in shape in typically Deco geometric style. It has an ebonised wood handle and finial so that it can be used without burning hands or fingers.
One side of the teapot is elegantly engraved with the following inscription: Presented to Miss A.M. Neal on the occasion of her marriage by Losthwithiel U.M. Church, Oct. 1924.
The teapot is made by renowned silversmiths and electroplaters I. S. Greenberg & Co in Birmingham and must date to the early 1920s, if not 1924 in particular. Israel Sigmund Greenberg founded the firm in the late 1880s and they remained in business up until the early 1940s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teapot is 29.5cm / 11.6ins from spout to handle, 12.2cm / 4.8ins across and stands 14.3cm / 5.6ins high. It weighs in at 622g / 21.9oz.
The underside of the base is marked EPNS for silver plate and has the I.S.G mark for Israel Sigmund Greenberg.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Evri (the new Hermes) tracked & signed courier.
