Art Deco Pair Stork Bookends Signed H Moreau
A wonderful pair of art deco spelter on marble bookends by Hippolyte Moreau and signed at the base of the bird. These are very evocative of the period with cubist influence. With their original eyes and finish they are a hard to find example. Condition is excellent. Just some slight small loss of the original finish in a few small places, on the shoulder and one beak. See pictures.
They are c 13.5cms in height.
Moreau, Francois Hippolyte (1832 - 1927)was born in France in1832. He studied under Jouffroy in Paris. Exhibited at the Salon from 1863, winning a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900.
