A rare example of these highly sought-after Staniforth's folding biscuit boxes what makes it an unusual find is the embossed or repousse Zodiac wheel which decorates the top of both sides of the box featuring all of the Zodiac signs.

The underside is where the makers mark can be found for the well renowned silversmith, Fenton Brothers of Sheffield and dates to the late Victorian era, around 1890 / 1900.

The box is ensconced in a naturalistic frame standing on four legs and incorporating a carrying handle. The box opens to reveal a pair of grilles which lift to reveal a lavishly gilded interior.

Excellent condition, measuring 8 3/4" x 5" x 9 1/4" tall.
