Antique silver Waltham pocket watch and chain.
Antique silver Waltham pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a key-wound movement, Am W Co grade, which is working nicely. This grade was in production from 1886 until 1916. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 8758019 dates it back to 1898. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 53mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1899 with the initials AB for Alfred Bedford, manager of Waltham UK. The case has light surface marking from use and some mild bruising to the back but overall it is in nice condition for an 1890s piece.
The watch glass is in nice condition.
The watch has a signed enamel dial which is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch comes on a double silver albert chain which has Birmingham hallmarks for 1910 with the makers mark for Herbert Bushell and sons. The chain also come with a silver fob which has Birmingham hallmarks for 1919.
The chain measures 24 cm on each of the longer chains and the chain and fob weigh 57.7 grams.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
