Omega Steel Open-Face PW Made in Switzerland 1942
Omega Steel Open-Face Pocket Watch
Made in Switzerland - circa 1942
WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!!
An elegant mint steel open-face pocket watch, made by Omega in Switzerland, circa 1942. This keyless wind pocket watch has just come back from the watchmaker and is in mint condition, making it a fantastic collector’s item!
DIAL: The white metal dial has distinctive black Arabic numerals with additional 24-hour hour markers around the outer edge. The dial has golden breguet hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed OMEGA in the upper centre together with its notorious logo.
MOVEMENT: The high-grade fifteen jewels anchor movement has a plain cock with a polished steel regulator and a lever escapement with a compensation balance wheel (calibre 43T1). It is signed OMEGA and numbered 9889311.
The movement is currently functioning well, but due to its antique nature, we cannot guarantee precise accuracy.
CASE: The watch lies in a steel open face case with a smooth finish. The inner case is signed OMEGA and numbered 1126. There are a couple of very small knocks on the case but this is understandable considering the age of the watch.
Signed: OMEGA – Swiss Made – circa 1942
Diameter: 50mm Weight: 95.60g
Omega: The watch making firm Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1880, it moved to its current location in Bienne, Switzerland. At the beginning, the company was not referred to as Omega. The name was later christened in 1894, when a watch model, the “Omega” was launched. As one of the world’s better known watch companies, they have been the official timekeepers for the Olympic Games, since 1932 and have also been supplying American and Russian astronauts with their “moon watch” since 1965 and 1975 respectively. The firm has been a member of the Swatch Group since 1983.
