Antique silver Waltham pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a 13-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is the Am.W Co grade, Hillside Quality, and it is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 3,198,045 dates it back to 1886/7. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 47mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so very slightly smaller than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1886 with the AB mark for Alfred Bedford, manager of Waltham UK. The front and sides of the case are in good condition, the case back has a little unevenness.
The later acrylic lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has a faint short hairline just above the subsidiary seconds dial, but it is difficult to see with the naked eye. Pin-set hands, sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes with a single chain, 29cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Each of the links has the lion silver mark and the clasp is hallmarked for 1886. There is also a later silver gilt and enamel fob from the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes dated 1945.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
