This is an antique Shirvan carpet dating from around 1900. The finely woven carpet has a a typical Shirvan design with central stepped pole medallion in a lozenge shaped field and attractive deep borders with geometric motifs. The colour palette is very nice with warm red, ochre yellow and a soft moss green all featured. This is in good order with an even pile, complete selvedges and just a little wear to the fringes. A very characterful carpet, it measures 178 cms by 100 cms.
