This antique Sheraton style 'Carlton House' desk is good quality & is a 20th century copy of this famous design. I would date it from around the 1950-60's period & to look at, it has the look of an Edwardian piece. This desk is predominately mahogany with all the usual fine features associated with these models. It's finely inlaid, with flame mahogany panels, cross bandings & an original tooled leather writing surface. The back is curved & well polished & it sits on tapered legs with spade end feet. The front inside above the leather has small drawers, pigeon holes, a central cupboard & two corner curved cupboards. There are two more small drawers either side & three larger drawers below. The middle drawer has a lock & all the handles are brass. This desk is in excellent condition & also has plenty of character.
