The town of Sarab is one of the oldest and historic settlement of Azarbijan. An epigraph is found near the town which belongs to the Oratoey period.

The volcanic mountains which are situated around the town provide the area with many mineral waters as numeral springs and streams by low mountains and located in the path of many tribal peoples such as the SHASAVAN.
