This is an antique railway carriage chest. An English, pine mail trunk with GWR detail, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.

Displays a desirable aged patina
Stained pine with dark hues throughout
The lid finished with the GWR initials
Opening smoothly and held in place by a chain link
Long iron clasp to front with diamond-shape latch
Large travel memorandum to the lid, dated to 1911
Smaller, unmarked label upon the front fascia
Dressed with a pair of iron drop handles to each side
