This is an antique pier glass mirror. An English, gilt gesso mirror in Classical taste, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.

Bold frame with overt Classical influence
Displays a desirable aged patina
Gilt Gesso in good order with rich hues
Later mirror plate in good condition with minimal foxing

Broad pilasters to each side with tiered cornice above
Wide, inset frieze depicts a mother and children against a white painted ground
Finished with hand-applied, bright golden tones to frieze

Lion head masks to the capitol picked out with further gold paint work
Acanthus bulbs adorn the terminus of each pilaster with an adjoined pair to the centres
Dressed with a small eye loop for wall mounting
