This is a pair of George III Elm Chairs in the Chippendale style contemporary to the period when was Chippendalewas alive. They date from c1760-1790. They have classic Georgian design with side stretchers and a swept back legs slightly and a central pierced spalt. They ahve great patiatnion with the grain from elm being gorgeous with wool work embroidered seats. We know Alexander Peter made designs in the style that was invogue for the day but did so in Indigenous woods. The style, construction, materials, weight, patina, age and construction marks give me enough to mention his name. They are a great pair of chairs from the second half of the 18th Century in great condition with the patina and grain being very pleasing.
