I have only ever had one other of these in the past, a scarce and unusual form. What makes it better than most is the integral pen rest to at the bottom of the front mesh panel. I have placed a dip pen there (not included) to show where one would rest one's pen.

The base is made from a solid piece of English Oak which is impressed with the well renowned maker, William Tonk and Sons and dates to the late Victorian era, around 1890.

A superb desk top accessory in excellent condition. The wooden plinth measures 9 1/4" x 5 1/2" and standing 8 3/4" to top of rear panel.
