A stunning antique Italian gilt wood Savonarola chair. This was made in Italy, it dates from around the 1800-1820 period.

It is of extremely fine quality, with crisp and intricate carving throughout. The base has an X shape, the seat is nicely scooped and there is a lovely red velvet feather filled cushion that sits loose on the seat.

The condition is excellent for its age, with one or two minor historical repairs here and there. The gilt finish has a lovely patina, and just the right amount of wear.
