Antique Indian miniature of woman feeding deer

1 of 6
This is a delightful Mughal miniature gouache painting on paper of a Princess feeding two deer which has been attractively framed within burr walnut moulding.
A young woman sits on a mound beside a stream and below a tree. A peacock looks down from within the tree. The woman, who is richly adorned with antique jewellery from head to ankles, carries two cloth-tied bundles on either end of a stick and feeds the deer.
Arabic text occurs in the margins except the left side where it appears to have been disbound from a book.
Dimensions:
Frame 38 x 27.5 cm
paper 23 x 14 cm
Condition: The paper is clearly antique with a chipped edge on the left side where it has been taken from a book. The painting itself is in excellent condition though some of the text appears to have been cut off at the margins. The frame, which from the inscription on the back dates from 1995, is in excellent condition and the painting is ready to hang
Postage & Packing: £6.50 within the UK. Please contact us for a quote if it is to be sent overseas.
