Antique Gilt Framed Engraving of Mrs Maria Duff
Artist Engraved by John Agar (1773-1858) after the original by Richard Cosway (1742-1821)
Title Mrs Duff (Mrs Maria Caroline Duff, nee Manners, 1775-1805)
Medium Hand-coloured engraving
Details Lovely portrait showing Mrs Duff stepping down from a cloud to earth. There is a verse printed at the bottom about death suggesting this version was produced soon after her death in 1805. Glazed and framed in a later decorative gilt frame, which probably dates from the mid-twentieth century.
Condition Overall in good condition with some wear commensurate with age. Some slight discolouration, and the print is quite badly foxed (brown spotting). There are a few tiny bugs sandwiched between the picture and the glass. The frame has some wear and scuffing and some cracking to the gilt paintwork with a few small areas of loss.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Image - 21cm by 29cm
Frame - 41m by 50cm, 2.5cm deep. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
