A stunning Victorian biscuit box made from solid Oak panels, mounted with the most unusual and highly decorative silver plated fittings to create a traditional coopered vessel.

The swing handle is attractive with a twisted section where it would be lifted. The lid is foliate engraved with a variety of leaves including ferns, bamboo and the like. The front has a large shield shaped cartouche.

The inside retains it's original cream ceramic liner, undamaged, just some glaze crazing.

The underside of the lid is signed by the quality silversmith, Daniel & Arter. Excellent condition the base measuring 6" in diameter, the top measuring 5" in diameter standing 6" tall to top of lid finial.
