A most impressive desk or counter bell, much larger than the norm, with a base diameter measuring 5 1/2" and standing 4 1/4" to top of button strike on the top. The base and button are made from solid cast English brass and the bell from a bell metal, all having been professionally polished to gleam.

What makes this one outstanding and highly desirable is the wonderful struck makers signature to the underside, made by the well renowned metal works, "W Tonk and Sons" with the stylized sun mark. It also is very lucky to have the registration date included "March 14th 1868" and the description "Detached Action". It also is lucky enough to have the original hand written stock numbers and price codes.

When struck with the palm this handsome bell creates a very authoritative ring, however the tone is most pleasing.

Victorian in era and excellent condition.
