This is an antique carved court cabinet. An English, oak sideboard in Jacobean revival taste, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Superb craftsmanship paying homage to the grand Jacobean tradition
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select oak shows fine grain interest throughout
Deep caramel hues presented beneath a wax polish finish
Gallery upper hosts a distinctive crown top over a canted cabinet
Adorned with leaf carvings, the crown hosts a hidden compartment to the right-hand side
Bulbous carved pilasters stand prominently ahead of line fold carved panels
Upper cabinet door with decorative carved frieze dressed with inset working lock — key present
Lower arranged as a pair of drawers over two cupboard doors with dashing butterfly hinges
Portcullis motif accentuates the door fronts, with small wooden pulls and working locks — key present
Distinctive decorative fluting panels to drawer fronts with circular pulls for access
Maker's mark to drawer box reads 'Bowman Bros Ltd, Camden, London'
The whole stands upon a quintet of squat bun feet beneath a shallow apron
