An absolutely charming late Victorian hand-carved inkwell from the Black Forest region, skillfully creating a sweet cat inside a boot or shoe. Beautiful detailing to the shoe, including carved stitching.

The cat has a lovely face, again, beautifully carved and retaining it's two original glass eyes.

The top opens to reveal the metal ink chamber and a carved out compartment created for pen nibs.

Dating to around 1890, it remain in excellent condition. 7 3/4" in length.
