Antique C19th Gilt-Framed Hand-Finished Print
We believe this to be a print, which has possibly been coloured over in paint - certainly the piece is hand-finished and varnished. It is onto paper, which has been pasted on to a board. The varnish and hand-painted highlights may be later than the picture itself. It depicts a lovely image of a lady teaching a young child while a girl looks on in the background. We would estimage it to date from the nineteenth century. The piece is framed in a lovely deep period gilt frame.
Condition: Overall in fair condition. The print has been pasted onto a board and looks to have been varnished. The hand-painted highlights may have been added later. There is some crazing, cracking and indentation to the surface and some areas of loss and damage to the finish. The picture is overall grubby. The frame has some wear and damage consistent with age. There is some significant chipping, grubbiness, cracking and loss to the surface, and there is some shrinkage cracking to the corners.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Image - 29cm by 23.5cm
Frame - 44cm by 39cm, 7cm deep. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
